About Master’s Accelerator Track 1 - Master of Science - Applied Mathematics

The Advanced Master’s Accelerator Program (Advanced MAP) is a one-semester, pre-master’s program designed specifically for international students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms, but who also want the benefit of English-language and academic training that will help them succeed in their postgraduate program. The program curriculum offers a balance of degree-specific and MAP-exclusive courses. Students will be equipped with the practical, degree-specific vocabulary and research skills they need to excel in their coursework.

Advanced MAP students at University of Dayton will receive:
  • Exclusive and rigorous academic coursework
  • Priority access to in-demand courses that fit their interests
  • Guidance from academic advisors and mentors
  • Career development and networking opportunities
  • Intensive classes with domestic students

The graduate program in applied mathematics is interdisciplinary in nature and offers an individualized plan of study to meet the needs and career goals of the student.  The program combines a core curriculum in the Department of Mathematics blending analysis, linear algebra, and elective areas of study such as modeling, numerical analysis and statistics.

The capstone element of the program is a Mathematics Clinic, a research project in which the student applies mathematical, numerical, or statistical modeling methods to a problem related to the student's concentration. The Mathematics Clinic can be a team project and can involve faculty members from several departments.
