Postgraduate Diploma in Education - Secondary Education - Dual Qualification (PGDE)

This University of Dundee course is the first stage students need to complete if they are following the traditional route into secondary education. It covers the Initial Teacher Education phase of the career. When followed by a successful induction year working within a school (Teaching Induction Scheme), students will be qualified to teach their subject areas throughout Scotland.

For the dual qualification students can choose to study any combination of two subject areas from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Dundee prepares students to teach aspects of the science content of the broad general education phase and the senior phase related to the National Qualification for the chosen subjects.

Through two on-campus study modules combined with three school placements, students will gain vital classroom skills and experience while also learning the theory of teaching children and young adults. They will also learn how to effectively support literacy, numeracy, health and well-being.
