3.5-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Science and Health - Continue to Master of Science - Computer Games

If students hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Course length is determined mainly by students English language level (UKVI IELTS score).

Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If their course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Both for entertainment and for more serious purposes such as virtual reality training, computer games, gamification and games intelligences are increasingly important in today’s world. This is the opportunity to turn a passion into a career. 

At the University of Essex, they specialize in virtual worlds, machine learning, artificial intelligence and high-level games design and development. In this course, students develop both theoretical and practical knowledge of computer games. The flexible approach allows students to fill gaps in their knowledge and brush up on a variety of languages, making sure they’re ready to bring their designs to life.

Students explore topics including: game design, game AI, 3D games development, mobile app programming, and physics-based games.
