This program also offers a work placement year. With this version of BBA Business Administration, students can boost their CV by gaining work experience with an external organization. Faculty offer bespoke support throughout the process of researching, applying and interviewing for placements. However, it is the student's responsibility to apply, prepare for and secure their own role. In recent years, students have gained placements with organizations such as BMW, Samsung and Cummins.

Group work tasks develop students' team working skills and the program's business simulation project puts students in charge of their own virtual venture. In competition with other students, they develop skills in problem-solving, analysis and creativity as they make decisions to optimize their business’ performance. In the final year of Bachelor of Business Administration, students put their knowledge into practice by producing a business plan, industry report or dissertation in an area of their choice. As well as developing the research and analytical skills needed for the workplace, students can take the opportunity to make valuable business connections by gathering case studies and interviews.

This course also gives students the option to follow a specialized pathway in Applied Quantitative Methods (AQM). With employers looking for graduates with data analysis skills, The University of Essex is one of just three UK universities to have received Q-Step Affiliate status. By completing necessary AQM modules, students quantitative skills are evidenced on their transcript to give them the competitive edge in the job market. University of Essex can also provide work placement bursaries to develop students' skills in evaluating numerical evidence, analyzing data and designing research.
