About Standard International Pathway Program (IPP) - 2-Semester Pathway + Bachelor of Science - Radiologic Technology
Program Description
Radiologic Technology is a dynamic, fast-paced profession that combines the use of sophisticated medical imaging technology with compassionate care of the ill and injured. As a radiologic technician, students will be a member of a team that helps diagnose and treat all types of pathologies and conditions.
UHart's four-year program leads to a certificate of completion and a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology. This program offers multiple benefits:
Students earn their professional credential in radiography and gain eligibility for credentialing in an advanced imaging modality (CT, MRI, sonography)—highly attractive to potential employers.
Graduates of this radiologic technology program enjoy nearly 100 percent job placement within 12 months of graduation.
A bachelor's degree in radiologic technology provides graduates with a distinct advantage throughout their careers—from landing their first job in an imaging facility to advancing to administrative and other higher-level healthcare positions.
The curriculum consists of basic science and math; general education including humanities, arts, and social sciences; and professional radiography core courses. Students practice various radiographic procedures and techniques within our fully energized x-ray laboratory.
Beginning in the second year, students complete clinical rotations at our local affiliate institutions. This hands-on experience is supervised by practicing medical-imaging professionals and affords students the opportunity to apply what they've learned in the classroom.
By the end of the third year, our students typically have completed all of the radiography courses and the requirements for the Associate in Science degree in health science. Once clinical competence of a predetermined list of radiographic procedures has been demonstrated, eligible students take a national examination in radiography offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Successful completion of this exam provides the radiography credential required to become a practicing x-ray technologist.
During their fourth year, students fulfill the requirements of the baccalaureate degree, preparing them to take a leadership role in healthcare and society through an undergraduate concentration in management, education, communication, computer science, or advanced science and medicine. Students may also choose to specialize in computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or ultrasound (US) during their fourth year.
International Pathway Program
Students should be advised that this is the Standard 2-Semester Pathway option for this program.
The International Pathway Program (IPP) is open to students who need to strengthen their English skills before studying a degree program in the USA. The IPP offers undergraduate students the additional support needed for their first year of university study. Students’ academic, social and personal success are ensured while in the program as they prepare to continue on to their degree.
Each semester students will take a combination of Hartford academic courses (credited) and English courses (non-credit). Course options are dependent upon the required pathway. Once students have reached the required English level, they can progress to their program at the University of Hartford.
