About Extended Accelerator - Bachelor of Science - Civil Engineering

Program Description

Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) combines language, culture and academics to give students a deep understanding of life in and out of the American classroom and includes personalized English-language instruction and tutoring.

As a student in the Extended Accelerator, you’ll get:

Civil engineering is a broadly based discipline that encompasses many specialties. The civil engineering curriculum provides students with a strong background in engineering and applied sciences that prepares graduates for professional license.

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) at UIC is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), a necessary requirement for obtaining the Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Graduates of the Civil Engineering Program will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  • Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  • Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
  • Function on multidisciplinary teams
  • Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  • Understand professional and ethical responsibility
  • Communicate effectively
  • Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  • Recognize the need for, and an ability to engage in lifelong learning
  • Understand contemporary issues
  • Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
  • A majority of the graduates should pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
