About Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honours) - Law with Criminology (M113)
Program Description
The LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology is a three year degree that combines legal studies with an exploration of different aspects of criminology, including crime, criminal justice and criminal behaviour. With specific modules focusing on criminology, students' studies will not only give them a great legal qualification, but they will also open up fascinating career avenues within the criminological world too. Studying this degree will also mean students are prepared in part for the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE 1) or to progress onto the Bar Practice Course (if they wish to qualify as a barrister).
With the LLB Law and Criminology qualification, students will also explore social responses to crime and criminality, and look at the processes and consequences of law-making, law-breaking and law enforcement.
The skills and knowledge students will gain on this Law with Criminology course will not only set them up for a career in the legal field but prepare them for other exciting options. For instance, establishments in government, education, and many more, find a law degree highly desirable – so students will have plenty of career choices after graduation.
This course focuses on key legal topics and a variety of different aspects of criminology, including crime, criminal justice and criminal behaviour. It’s an ideal choice if students are looking to pursue a career in the legal sector or, more specifically, within the criminal justice system. In addition to studying key legal topics, students will also study Criminology modules which examine the nature of crime and how it operates. The course focuses on key concepts, such as the definition of crime and how it is perceived within society.
Studying this balanced combination of law and criminology means that students have a great choice of career options to choose from. Not only could students continue their studies to become a qualified lawyer, but they can consider careers in politics, journalism, business or criminal investigation and analysis. This course is a great starting point from which to launch a career in the exciting worlds of law and criminology.
Students will take an additional Foundation Year before they start their LLB criminal law course. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at degree level. Students will study six modules and on successful completion progress onto any of the three year degrees.
