About Master of Laws (LLM) - International Energy Law
A Master of Laws (LLM) International Energy Law is a postgraduate degree designed to enhance academic legal knowledge, particularly focusing on specific areas of interest. Specially designed for law and non-law graduates who want to gain a Master’s qualification in law, this course focuses specifically on developing an in-depth knowledge of International Energy Law. By completing this programme, students will develop skills that will help them enhance their career in International Energy Law.
The LLM International Energy Law degree will provide students with the opportunity to explore issues surrounding international energy law. Students will examine the public international law rules with regard foreign investment and trade in energy; specific energy sectors (in particular oil and gas and renewable energy); and how energy activities impact human rights and the environment.
In addition to a general induction to the programme, there is a two-week induction covering the Key Principles of the English Legal System. This is compulsory for non-law students, but also open to students wanting a refresher in the fundamentals of the law of England and Wales. This would be useful for any student who has taken a considerable break from legal education.
To help prepare students for their dissertation, students will study a range of compulsory and further optional Research Methods Training sessions.
