3.5-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Business, Law and Social Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Hispanic Studies and Classical Studies (Honours Select 50:50)

Program Description

Students can split their degree between the study of Spanish language and cultures and another subject of their choice. Studying Hispanic Studies at 50% will enable students to become highly proficient in writing, reading, speaking and listening to Spanish with the option of studying a second Iberian language (Basque, Catalan or Portuguese) from Year Two. Students will spend one year in a Spanish-speaking country (or if relevant, Basque or Catalan speaking region or Portuguese speaking country) as an assistant in a school, as a student at a university or on a work placement.

In the Classical Studies programme students can combine classical studies equally with another subject. The programme focuses on the societies and cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students will study their literary and visual cultures (including their art and architecture) against the backdrop of the history of the period. The programme also gives students the skills in reading and analyzing the surviving (and sometimes conflicting) evidence that will allow students to reach and present their own judgements convincingly.
