Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston is an interdisciplinary field of study offering a major (30 credits). The department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is inspired by feminist movements for social justice locally, nationally and globally. The faculty strives to provide students with the tools to analyze and articulate relationships among systems of structural inequality, including those based on sex/gender, race/ethnicity, class, sexuality, religion and nation. The department aims to stimulate students’ personal and intellectual growth, political engagement and social action. It also works to facilitate intellectual, curricular and programmatic exchanges and innovations on campus and beyond.

The Bachelor of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies program curriculum includes introductory and intermediate courses, designed for all students who have a general interest in understanding how gender shapes experiences, institutions, and social realities.
