Master of Science - Nutrition Sciences

The Nutation Sciences Department is housed in the School of Health Sciences, and for several years has offered an ACEND accredited undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics and a graduate Dietetic. Internship. Additionally, the department has offered a Master of Science in Human Nutrition. In preparation for industry and credentialing changes, along with the drive to always offer students optimal programs, the department has chosen to reorganize and offer a more comprehensive competency based Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences program which will prepare graduates for national certification and entry level positions as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

Successful completion of the program results in a Verification Statement from the Program Director authorizing eligibility to sit for the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Successful passage of this exam confers the title Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

The University of New Haven Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This program integrates the didactic coursework with supervised experiential learning to provide a competency based education that provides graduates eligibility to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and be prepared for practice.
