About Master of Accounting - Professional Accounting
The Professional Concentration is designed for individuals who have a non-accounting undergraduate degree (i.e., Finance, Biology, English, Human Resources) and wish to enter public accounting as a certified professional.
The Professional Concentration is a 33-39 credit hour program of study depending on whether the student has completed two introductory courses prior to admission:
- An introductory financial accounting course, ACCT 2110 or MGMT 502.
- An introductory managerial accounting course, ACCT 2120 or MGMT 503 prior to admission in the program.
These courses may also be completed at the undergraduate level if taken before admission. The program fulfills the New Mexico Board of Accountancy requirements, and those of most other states, for sitting the CPA exam in New Mexico.
