About Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Computer Engineering

Computer engineers create and improve the technologies and hardware that shape our modern world. The University of Saskatchewan redesigned first-year engineering to help student's succeed and make engineering more fun. The school calls it the new first year Re-Engineered. It’s the only program of its kind in Canada and  will get student's excited and inspired about engineering.

In Re-Engineered instead of high-stakes exams, student's will do more assignments and quizzes so they can improve their mark if a student stumbles early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so they can get help when they need it. Instead of final exams, student's will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.

Student's will choose an engineering specialty – known as a major, or discipline – at the end of their first year. This is the area they will study in-depth in the upper-years classes.

Computer engineering graduates have many possible job opportunities. Some of those job opportunities could include:

  • Creating high-tech products like iPhones, digital TVs and security scanners.
  • Developing satellite-based communication systems, wireless networks and devices that comprise the Internet.
  • Designing robotic equipment for everything from medicine to mining.
  • Working for industry-leading companies like Apple, Electronic Arts, RIM and Google.
  • Designing and building international products for companies like Cisco networks while living in Saskatchewan.
