Master of Science - Computer Science - Informatics

In Master of Science - Computer Science, students at University of South Dakota will prepare to excel as a professional in the field. They will learn the ins and outs of the latest technological developments, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, data science, information retrieval, internet of things, cybersecurity and big data. They will learn to apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems in every facet of society. Armed with both experience and knowledge, graduates will be positioned to succeed in the rapidly growing fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and information security.

This specialization prepares students for a career as database developers/managers, e-commerce specialist, human-computer interface designer, information architect and more. They will take coursework in high performance computing, data mining, information storage and retrieval, bioinformatics and computational biology. This program offers both a thesis and non-thesis track and requires 30 credit hours which includes 12 credit hours for the specialization.
