Program Description
This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre for the University of Strathclyde followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Strathclyde. In the international foundation year, students will study courses related to their intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance their skills as a student. Advancement into students' intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
The International Foundation Year in Business & Social Sciences will familiarize students with a wide area of study. They will develop their critical thinking skills, creativity, analytical and team working skills, providing them with the most crucial skills required as a successful graduate.
There are a number of ways students can study law at Strathclyde, one such way being the BA degree in combination with another subject.
Law is concerned with the study of the obligations, duties and rights which every member of society has in relation to one another and to the state.
The study of law is regarded not as purely vocational, but part of a broader education. Please note, however, that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify graduates for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in Law students follow the LLB programme.
Combining education with other subjects provides opportunities for those who wish to work in professions associated with education, but who don't wish necessarily to become teachers. Please note that this course doesn't allow graduates to qualify as a teacher, though joint honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education).
