About 3-Term Pathway - International Foundation Year in Business and Social Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Politics and International Relations and Economics

Program Description

This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre for the University of Strathclyde followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Strathclyde. In the international foundation year, students will study courses related to their intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance their skills as a student. Advancement into students' intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.

The International Foundation Year in Business & Social Sciences will familiarize students with a wide area of study. They will develop their critical thinking skills, creativity, analytical and team working skills, providing them with the most crucial skills required as a successful graduate.

Politics students will look at the work of governments and their policies and study the behaviour of those who govern - and who they are governing - both at home and abroad. Students will also gain knowledge of domestic and international institutions and issues relating to conflict and cooperation.

They will cover diverse and relevant issues, such as international terrorism to the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum.

Politics graduates can go on to work in a number of areas, with many pursuing academic research careers in the UK, Europe and North America.

Following the recent global economic crisis, economics is more important and relevant than ever. Decisions on money, banking, interest rates, taxation and government spending affect us all, with global consequences.

Economics aims to understand the activities of the different agents in the economy – consumers, producers and the government – and how they all fit together.

This degree will give students the ability to explain complex data in simple terms to different audiences. They'll also develop excellent mathematical, statistical and problem-solving skills.
