Program Description

The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. Depending on your current level of English, you will study between (1 term) & (2 terms) of English.

This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre for the University of Strathclyde followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Strathclyde. In your international foundation year, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.

The Pre-Masters in Engineering and Sciences, you will explore and begin to understand the power of engineering and science in the real world. While you begin to learn the technical aspects of media, you will discover how to push the bounds of creative expression and graduate with the skills to succeed, plus the critical outlook and approach employers want.  


To be an effective power engineer you need a good knowledge of underpinning technologies and user and application requirements. You also require a firm understanding of the business and regulatory landscape that national and multinational power and utility companies must work within.

This course brings together advanced expertise in all aspects of electrical energy and power systems, complemented by studies in electricity markets and power systems economics.

The course is designed to provide the advanced training you need for a career in the dynamic power and energy sectors.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) – this programme is CEng accredited and fulfils the educational requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer when presented with a CEng-accredited Bachelors programme.
