Program Description
Foundation Studies Program (Fast Track) - Physical Science (X0G:5) (0100809):
The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.
To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.
Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science - Artificial Intelligence (93H):
Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science is a double degree program. It provides exposer to the world of opportunity. This major provides an opportunity to develop skills in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence and internet of things. It focuses on how to leverage connected devices and manipulate the gathered data.
Students get an opportunity to learn:
- Programming Fundamentals will provide student with an overview of programming and its role in problem-solving, and strategies for designing solutions to programming problems with reference to the Java programming language
- Artificial Intelligence provides an introduction to many AI sub-fields, including: expert systems, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, intelligent agents.
- Software Design and Development focuses on the nature of systems design, implementation and testing as phases within the systems development process. The unit develops practical skills in designing, implementing and testing desktop computer programs
- The aim of Machine Learning and Applications is to provide students with the foundation knowledge and understanding of Machine Learning and its applications in various domains including computer vision, data analytics and text mining.
- Internet of Things (IoT) is rising set of technologies that provides access to a large quantity of data through sensors. Such devices are ubiquitous today in industrial processes, vehicles, robots, environmental monitoring, farms and hospitals.
