Program Description
Foundation Studies Program (Fast Track) - Physical Science (X0G:5) (0100809):
The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.
To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.
Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science - Logistics and Supply Chain Management (93H):
The double degree allows students to deepen their knowledge and expertise within two separate study areas. This means students can choose from University of Tasmania’s range of exciting, diverse courses and they can embark on a journey as unique as they are.
The University of Tasmania’s science degree provides students with a foundation of core skills in science, analysis, and rational thinking. They have options to focus their studies in one or more scientific disciplines and learn the methods to apply their skills and knowledge to the practical needs of industry, business, and government in both scientific and non-scientific roles.
The BICT is a specialist degree with both a theoretical and practical focus. It develops technological understanding and skills that are in high demand world-wide, plus builds project management and other business soft-skills that make students an ICT professional.
The Logistics and Supply Chain major aims to provide students with a holistic perspective of the interdependencies in logistics and international trade. It provides students with background knowledge of critical elements of the international logistics and supply chain management enabling problem-solving skills to be applied to key industry issues.
The major will furnish prospective early-career administrators and managers with a solid foundation in international logistics and freight management. The major provides the necessary grounding in international logistics so that the theoretical and practical elements of the freight management and transport industries are appropriately applied to enable effective decision-making within a complex supply chain system. By developing critical analytical skills within the industry context, students will be able to contribute to industry growth and sustainability.
The University of Tasmania offers their students a wide range of strong links to diverse industry sectors where logistics and supply chain activities are involved, such as retailing, manufacturing, agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, mining, and tourism, shipping, ports, transport and logistics, and industry associations in Tasmania and interstate. Besides, University of Tasmania have been conducting logistics and supply chain research projects related to aquaculture, offshore energy and agriculture, funded by the Blue Economy CRC, the Australian Research Council, and the Department of Agriculture Water and Environment. The University of Tasmania’s strong engagement with industries and research outcomes enhance the quality of curriculum and enrich students learning experience.
