About Master of Arts - Literacy Education
The Master of Arts in Literacy Education is designed to provide theory, research, knowledge, and field experiences for students who plan to teach reading and writing. Reading is presented as a linguistic, cognitive, and socio-cultural process in relation to other language arts processes such as listening and speaking, with particular emphasis on writing and the writing process.
The program allows graduates to choose from a variety of foci, including Writing Instruction, Teaching of Reading, Research, and Literacy Leadership. Additionally, the University of Texas San Antonio's community of strong faculty researchers effectively prepares students to take the next step in their careers. This program is also affiliated with the San Antonio Writing Project.
