About Academic Accelerator - Bachelor of Fine Arts - Ballet
The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support.
Students in the Academic Accelerator receive:
- The right amount of support for their academic and English-speaking needs
- A full year’s worth of college credits
- Access to courses exclusively for international students
- English-language help with words they need to know for their classes
- A mix of classes with international and U.S. students
The University of Utah Department of Ballet offers rigorous training, multiple performance opportunities and excellent academic courses for the ballet major. The minimum requirement for graduation is 122 credit hours, of which 36 to 39 hours must be fulfilled in general education courses.
The ballet major is a restricted major and admission is highly competitive. Female students usually enter the program with six to nine years of ballet technique and pointe work. Women are strongly advised to have had at least four years of pointe work. Male students traditionally have studied for less time.
