The Microbiology program is recommended for students who wish to prepare for careers in microbiology, biotechnology and allied health areas, for graduate study in Microbiology, Biochemistry and many other biological and biomedical sciences. The program studies the characteristics and growth of microscopic organisms, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Students learn about the basic life processes of these organisms, including their genetics, biochemistry, structures, and reproduction. They also study how microbes impact people and society in different cultures.
