International Year One (2-Semester Pathway) Transfer to Bachelor of Arts - Political Science/Social Studies

The International Year program will provide you with the solid foundation you need to be successful in your university degree. Offered as a one, two, or three quarter program, you will study a range of subjects to develop your language and study skills, while focusing on your chosen field. After successfully completing your International Year, you will be able to progress to your undergraduate degree at Western.

Political Science is one of the oldest fields of academic inquiry. In an increasingly interdependent world, the study of politics and government flourishes as relations between persons, groups, and nations become more complex. Modern Political Science is equally concerned with questions of freedom and authority as political philosophy and the pursuit of social scientific research. 

Secondary Education students who wish to be endorsed in social studies may choose this major. However, this degree does not require that a student pursue a teaching certificate.

Political Science/Social Studies majors are often Secondary Education students who wish to be endorsed in Social Studies. Others pursue employment in the public sector or enter graduate programs for advanced study.
