About Bachelor of Community Development - Environmental and Sustainability Studies (Optional Co-op)
The community development program at Acadia University builds the foundation of leadership. The school provides the core qualities students need to pursue their passions. These could be social justice, environmental issues, community sustainability, and more. The school focuses first on critical thinking before moving on to how to put strategic plans into action to make a difference.
Students will have the opportunity to act on real issues and explore real-life experiences. Acadia University incorporates environmental issues and social leadership. Students will be encouraged to think creatively as they practice their passions.
The fourth year offers a unique experience. Its mandatory core term has three parts:
- A condensed schedule with two-week block classes.
- A work placement that allows you to gain valuable work experience.
- A local, national, and in some cases an international community project.
The community development program also offers different ways students can get involved locally with co-op opportunities or community programs.
