About Foundation Pathway in Architecture - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Architectural Technology

Program Description

From the design of a family home to an entire city, architects shape the world in which we live. Students will be introduced to practical art and design skills including developing skills of visual storytelling, image-making both in traditional and digital media, visual language and communication, formulating an independent creative response to a broad range of subject matter. The undergraduate pathway delivers the creative and technical skills needed to to help transform the built environment and succeed in architectural practice.

For a hands-on degree, many classes are going to utilise project and portfolio based strategies to help students begin developing their portfolio and find their areas of passion. Students will learn to study design from creative and technical perspectives to help them build projects which are beautiful, sustainable, and user-friendly. Staff are actively engaged in research, and they’ll support students all the way. Plus, there’s the opportunity to go to extracurricular seminars and workshops, which feature guest presentations from specialist academics and researchers.

It takes a team of people to turn architectural designs into reality. Become a vital part of that team through our Chelmsford-based Architectural Technology BSc (Hons) degree course, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. At ARU students will study architecture as part of a multidisciplinary school and get to understand the role of other professionals in a construction team. Get hands-on in model-making studios and explore building design styles on site visits and a European field trip - or by taking an optional placement year.
