About Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Architecture
BA (Hons) Architecture empowers students' to satisfy the requirements of a brief and re-energize our environment. Students will learn the technical knowledge to inspire their professional portfolio. They'll be taught how to analyze, develop, test and communicate their ideas. Students will be working on drawings and models for domestic, public and commercial projects, such as houses, museums and cityscapes. Be creative.
Learners can spend time in Hertfordshire's fantastic studios and workshops. There are woodworking, metalworking and casting workshops to help students develop real-world skills. Students can try their hand at ceramics (for building facades), printmaking and life-drawing classes to enhance their sketching skills. Moreover, learners can make use of specialist computer software suites and even download software onto their personal laptop. With 3D printers, laser cutters, a welding booth and studio space at their fingertips, students can bring their ideas to life.
The Year Abroad will provide students in Creative Arts with the opportunity to expand, develop and apply the knowledge and skills gained in the first two taught years of the degree within a different organizational and cultural environment in a partner academic institution. Moreover, an optional 'Sandwich' placement year may be undertaken between the levels 5 and 6. Students undertake the placement within a commercial, public or not for profit setting that is able to provide an appropriate learning experience related to the creative and cultural industries.
The BA (Hons) Architecture is ARB (Architects Registration Board) prescribed and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architect) validated course for Part I, based on its course content (including education aims, learning outcomes and assessment criteria); and evidence that the University has adequate resources in place to maintain and increase the achievement of pupils to standards required.
