Students are free to choose a minor of interest to compliment criminal justice studies. The Department of Criminal Justice prides itself on providing students a balanced and complete education.

The faculty possess expertise in the traditional scholarly fields of criminology, political science, sociology, law, and psychology. These disciplines contribute to the intellectual basis for criminal justice as an academic field.

The Department of Criminal Justice sponsors the Phi Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society, which recognizes the academic excellence of Criminal Justice students. The goals of the APSU Phi Kappa Chapter are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity.
