Bachelor of Arts - Healthcare Management

The 120 credit hour Healthcare Management major welcomes students seeking their first bachelor’s degree as well as students who may already have a bachelor’s or an associate degree. The major is particularly suitable for those candidates who may already have a background through education and/or work experience in health-related fields, such as (but not limited to) counseling, medical technology, medical transcription, nursing, nursing assistant, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or radiologic science.

In addition to the university-wide outcomes, all graduates will demonstrate the following outcomes:

• Be able to use deductive and inductive reasoning to solve business problems.
• Be able to effectively research a subject and present the findings both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Be able to apply knowledge about the economic, legal, and interpersonal environment in the creation and management of the organization.
• Build a team model that uses (1) inter-professional collaboration at the organizational and departmental levels, and (2) communication/relationship processes (influencing behaviors, diversity, community involvement, engendering trust, and demonstration of integrity).
• Explain key leadership initiatives in healthcare based on identification, interpretation, and application of health outcomes.
• Integrate critical reasoning and evidence-based decision making to effectively lead in a managed care facility.
• Employ current healthcare services components, laws, and policies to create a plan that impacts local, regional, national, and global communities.
• Perform analysis of past trends and current structures, functions, and policies of the four basic healthcare services.
• Evaluate healthcare services, marketing, and revenue trends from organizational, community, and national perspectives.
