About Master of Science - Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences
The Brunel Sport, Health and Exercise MSc is aimed at graduates with a background in sports science who want to build on their existing knowledge with advanced study in the specialist areas of human performance and sports psychology.
Brunel's selection of optional modules, covering the range of physiological, biomechanical and psychological factors governing how the human body works, allows students to tailor their course to their interests and objectives.
Students can choose, for example, to concentrate on the mechanics of optimal performance, with a focus on developing their practical and analytical skills of accessing and enhancing a person’s strength, flexibility, stamina and athletic technique. Alternatively, students might examine the key psychological factors that impact on sports performance such as anxiety, motivation, concentration and confidence, and learn strategies that help athletes to overcome inhibitions and achieve peak performance.
This course will include two compulsory modules. One investigates contemporary issues related to physical activity and health such as the effects of ageing, injury rehabilitation, obesity, and cardiac health. The other looks at research methods and data analysis, tools that will prepare graduates for higher, research-related degrees.
Throughout their studies students will be able to take advantage of Brunel's modern physiology and biomechanics laboratories and some of the best sports facilities in the UK.
From elite performance to personal fitness to community-based sport activity, sport is an ever-expanding, global industry. The expert knowledge and practical skills graduates will gain from this Brunel master’s will boost their employment prospects in the lab, on the training field or with sporting bodies.
Dean’s International Scholarship: This course is eligible for a £2,000 fee waiver, per academic year, subject to availability. This Scholarship is for full-time international students only.
