About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - International Relations

Knowledge of international affairs and skills of clear-sighted political analysis are needed more than ever before, as the traditional political ‘certainties’ crumble.

Taught by experts in a stimulating and inclusive environment, students will gain a historical understanding of the development of the international system and its contemporary relevance.

Examine a range of contemporary global political issues and problems (e.g. global poverty and foreign aid; war and military intervention; climate change; the ethics of torture; migration; racial and gender injustice), and the obligations states and political actors might have in responding to these challenges. Explore the links between identity, conflict, diplomacy, and models of governance to deal with the challenges of the 21st century.

The University place a strong emphasis on transferable skills with a focus on employability. Students will gain skills in critical thought and analysis, team work, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.

Graduates are now working in a variety of sectors including the civil service, international non-governmental organisations, journalism, law, and banking and international business.
