Public health is about the theory and practice of preventing disease and promoting good health and wellbeing. It does this through specific actions and interventions, planned health provision, policies, and legislation. It can target or help individuals but more often is delivered at population level, for example in a specific geographical region or for a specific group (e.g. children), or community (e.g. an ethnic group). Throughout the degree there will be numerous opportunities to understand the variety and nuance of public health practice through class discussions, case-studies, work-related experiences, and assessments. Whilst studying this degree students will have the opportunity to reflect on their personal strengths and values in a supportive environment that will assist them in planning for their studies and prepare them for their future career.
