3-Term Pathway - Incorporated Bachelor Year Zero in Media - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - English Literature with Mandarin

Students can get the perfect start to their degree at De Montfort University with the International Year Zero (IYZ). Students will take an extra year of study at De Montfort University International College (DMUIC) in order to complete a degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.      

English is now of the most spoken languages worldwide. This programme will enrich students' understanding of the form, culture and function of today’s use of the English language, alongside teaching them a second language of Mandarin.

Through this course students will examine the origins of English and how it could evolve in an era of global change and technological innovation. They will also explore how the importance and impact of language in a variety of contexts, both as a complex system for embodying ideas, emotions and beliefs, and as a means of influencing, persuading and moving others.
