Students can get the perfect start to their degree at De Montfort University with the International Year Zero (IYZ). Students will take an extra year of study at De Montfort University International College (DMUIC) in order to complete a degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.
This delivery of the IYZ programme includes a six week pre-sessional English course immediately preceding entry to the programme. Throughout the pre-sessional English and IYZ programme, students will be supported at DMUIC. Students will have individual subject tutors who will make sure that they are on track to achieve their study goals. Students will be given feedback both in person and in writing so that they always know how they are doing, and how to improve. Students will also be assessed through regular tests and exams.
This course covers the science and technology of audio and recording systems and how these can be used effectively in recording, mixing and mastering and sound design. Students will develop skills in audio mixing and mastering, learn the principles of electronics and acoustics, study the measurement and design of recording and audio product environments, and produce sound for digital media, including radio, television, film, video games and online content.
Students will build a skillset that will equip them for roles in areas such as studio recording, audio and post-production, sound system installation, management and sound for film and TV. Graduates have gone on to work in successful roles for major companies including Bauer Media and Spotify.
