About Associate of Applied Science - Mechatronics Technician

This degree program is designed for both the new student entering the field of machine maintenance and for the current maintenance employee who wishes to learn more about the knowledge and skills currently in demand by employers.

A graduate of the program will be prepared for entry into the maintenance field as a mechatronics technician or assistant. Instruction covers the basic energy types that animate and/or control machinery. These energy types are mechanical energy (solids), hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical. The student will become familiar with machinery components that conduct, control and apply the various energy types, their related graphic symbols, and the blueprints and schematics which utilize them for graphic communication.

The courses will examine, explain and utilize basic analytical methods and concepts that are critical to safely and efficiently work in the dynamic high energy world of industrial machinery.

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:
  • Work as a mechatronics technician.
  • Demonstrate understanding OSHA and WISHA standards for safety in the workplace.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic industrial equipment.
  • Explain the consequences of failure to comply with company and basic safety principles.
