About 1-Term Pathway - International Incorporated Master's (IIM) - Continue to Master of Laws (Honours) - The Low Carbon Just Transition
The Pre-Masters program is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee. This may be due to the grades achieved in their undergraduate degree, their current qualifications not being equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree, or a desire to improve their academic and English language skills.
The Pre-Masters course will equip students with the advanced skills necessary to complete their postgraduate study at the University of Dundee. They can choose to study over one or two terms, depending on their academic qualifications and English language level. The one-term option offers a fast track route to their chosen degree course and is studied over three months. The two-term option is studied over six months and provides additional academic English and subject-related support.
The Low Carbon Just Transition
Governments and industry are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and these efforts present both risks and opportunities. The rapidly developing international and national regulatory regimes create legal complexities, and this course is designed to help students navigate these challenges.
Participants will study regulatory and environmental issues, infrastructure, and project finance, providing them with an understanding of emissions trading and renewable energy markets.
Students will examine the role of international and national law, focusing on the legislative and policy measures that countries are implementing to help achieve climate change goals and drive the transition to a sustainable energy system worldwide.
Additionally, they will learn about key societal issues that are prevalent in the global energy sector, including jobs, disclosure and transparency, ethics and equality, as well as strategies for achieving a just transition to a low-carbon economy.
The Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) has been a global authority on energy law and policy since 1977. The organization is now committed to facilitating the transition to low-carbon economies worldwide. With over 6,000 postgraduate alumni from more than 50 countries, CEPMLP prepares its graduates for high-profile careers in both the public and private sectors.
