About 1-Term Pathway - International Incorporated Master's (IIM) - Continue to Master of Science - Sustainability - Climate Change and The Transitions to Net-Zero Economies

The Pre-Masters program is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee. This may be due to the grades achieved in their undergraduate degree, their current qualifications not being equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree, or a desire to improve their academic and English language skills.

The Pre-Masters course will equip students with the advanced skills necessary to complete their postgraduate study at the University of Dundee. They can choose to study over one or two terms, depending on their academic qualifications and English language level. The one-term option offers a fast track route to their chosen degree course and is studied over three months. The two-term option is studied over six months and provides additional academic English and subject-related support.

Climate Change and the Transitions to Net-Zero Economies
Governments and industry are mobilizing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and these concerns drive efforts to make the economy more sustainable.

This course draws on expertise in regulatory and environmental issues to provide students with the best possible training, including topics in climate policy, effective emissions trading, renewable energy, the circular economy, and the increasingly important environmental industries.

Students will examine the role of climate change action in driving the transition to a sustainable (green) economy, along with climate science, policy, and law.

They will also study:

The international law of the Paris Agreement
Climate litigation
Carbon budgeting
The promotion of technology for carbon storage and removal
Green business models
Research on behavior change
The course aligns closely with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which were pledged by all UN countries in 2015 to support a more prosperous future for all while protecting natural resources. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about these goals during their studies.

The Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) has been a global authority on energy law and policy since 1977 and is now working toward the transition to low-carbon economies worldwide. With over 6,000 postgraduate alumni from more than 50 countries, CEPMLP prepares its graduates for high-profile careers in both the public and private sectors.
