About 4-Term Pathway - Extended Undergraduate Foundation Program - Engineering and Physical Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Product Design

The 4-term program offers successful students guaranteed progression to London South Bank University. Students will study their Foundation program at the ONCampus London South Bank University Center located at the heart of the London South Bank University campus. This extended program is available for students who do not have the required English language level for the 3-term pathway. It lasts 4 terms and includes an English language module (ELPP) followed by 3 terms of Undergraduate Foundation Program (UFP).

The program is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at London South Bank University. All students who successfully complete the Undergraduate Foundation Program are guaranteed placement on a suitable undergraduate study program at London South Bank University. The Undergraduate Foundation Program is set at level 3, equivalent to A-level standard in the United Kingdom.

The year begins with an English language module, followed by three terms divided into teaching weeks and examination weeks, with half a term of English language. On average, students will undertake 21 (up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

English Language forms up to six hours of the timetable, compulsory for students below the required level for progression, and integrated into the teaching of academic subjects. Students at or above the required English level for progression may follow a reduced timetable.

Progress to Bachelor of Science (Honors) - Product Design

The program focuses on designing products, services, and systems that address industry and societal challenges. By blending design thinking with physical and digital prototyping, students develop the intellectual and practical skills needed to become well-rounded product designers.

Students learn about design methods, materials, manufacturing processes, and basic engineering principles, with opportunities to develop products from concept to final model and prototype. In the third year, students are encouraged to participate in an industrial placement. The final year culminates in an end-of-year degree show to display students’ work.

London South Bank University program is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and emphasizes studio/workshop-based design assignments. Students spend a significant amount of time on design project work, both individually and in groups, to develop as designers and prepare for their professional careers.
