About Academic Accelerator - Bachelor of Science - Environmental Management Systems - Policy Analysis

The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a well-rounded first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive English-taught classes with the appropriate level of support.

As a student in the Academic Accelerator, individuals will receive:
  • Tailored support for academic and English-speaking requirements
  • A full year’s worth of college credits
  • Access to courses specifically for international students
  • Assistance with English vocabulary essential for classes
  • A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students
Louisiana is fortunate to have abundant natural resources. In order to safeguard public and ecological health, as well as restore air, soil, and water quality, Louisiana has cultivated one of the most robust professional environmental communities globally. The undergraduate program in environmental management systems equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to this environmental community in various specialized areas, such as air permitting, environmental enforcement, soil conservation, water quality, wetland delineation, environmental compliance, coastal restoration, and risk assessment and management. Graduates of environmental management systems are well-prepared for diverse career opportunities due to their strong foundation in sciences, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills, all of which are essential in the rapidly evolving job market that values well-trained and adaptable workers.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management Systems program is divided into three concentrations:
  • Environmental analysis and risk management
  • Policy analysis
  • Resource conservation
Each concentration offers a range of elective courses that enable students to develop expertise in specific areas of interest. Particularly in their junior and senior years, students engage with accomplished environmental professionals to refine their academic plan and career objectives, focusing on specific paths within the broad field of environmental management.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management Systems concentration in Policy Analysis will possess knowledge and practical insight into:
  • The roles and responsibilities of state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Environmental laws and regulations
  • Implementation mechanisms for regulations, compliance, permits, audits, etc.
  • Environmental auditing systems
  • Environmental permitting
  • The significance of risk assessment in decision-making
  • Land use planning.
