About Bachelor of Arts - Theatre - Design-Tech
As a Design/Technology student at Lycoming College, student's will receive a solid foundation in design and technology through a combination of an inclusive curriculum and practical experience. Hands-on opportunities will allow student to create a strong portfolio that touches on all aspects of production, such as scenic design, lighting design, and costume design, as well as the costume and scenic fabrication process.
In addition to fabrication, sewing, and basic stage carpentry, the technical theatre students have the opportunity to gain experience in some of the most in-demand skills across the theatre industry including: the programming and operation of a CNC machine, welding, computer-aided drafting (CAD), rendering, patterning, draping, as well as the operation of state of the industry lighting, sound, and building equipment.
Graduate Outcomes:
- During their time at Lycoming College, theatre majors are encouraged to audition for, and interview with, a variety of professional companies and summer theatre programs and organizations. With guidance, portfolio preparation, and audition coaching provided by Lycoming faculty, they have secured professional internships during their college career and jobs after graduation.
Students and alumni have been employed as actors, choreographers, directors, stage managers, musical directors, house managers, designers, theatre development officers, lighting/sound technicians, theatre teachers, technicians, and carpenters in theatres all over the country, including Philadelphia and New York City.
