Master of Professional Studies - Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) (All Grades)

In a K-12 setting, teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) offers teachers autonomy, opportunities to collaborate, variety in teaching settings and methods, and the opportunity to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds. Teachers of English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) are often advocates for their students and trainers of their colleagues in the mainstream.

The School’s philosophy holds that all children, regardless of cultural and linguistic background, can and must be supported to reach their maximum potential. Language learning and academic success are inextricably intertwined, and teachers of ESOL focus on both. The program prepares the highest-quality teachers to be able to meet the challenges of today’s linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms.

The School offers individualized programs that combine theory with its practical application. The faculty at School is highly experienced with specialties in cross-cultural psychology and processes, methods of TESOL, child and adult language acquisition, teaching language in early grades, and English grammar. Students will enjoy numerous collaborative relationships with national and state professional organizations and community-based organizations, as well as a wide range of schools and districts locally and regionally.
