Dual Qualification - Grade 12 + College Certificate - Esthetics

Program Description

Students will complete their ITA technical training and graduation program coursework in the first year, and then in the second year they will complete their work place practicum. Students will graduate with a Grade 12 Diploma and usually 1 year of an ITA trades certificate.

In addition the Nail Technology and Skin Care Therapist programs include;  anatomy, physiology, chemistry, electricity, nutritional basics, diseases and disorders of the skin and nail, time management, employability and essential skills, maintaining a professional standard, career planning, goal setting, resume and portfolio preparation, selling retail products, developing service retention, public relations, various aspects of business management,  and the opportunity to develop interpersonal, communication, and discretionary skills.

Skin Care Therapists give facials and other body treatments using specialized products and techniques. Skin Care Therapists advise clients on the use of beauty products, make-up application, waxing, massage, lash extensions and may specialize in one or more of these areas.

Nail Technicians advise clients on manicure and pedicure treatments and maintenance, nail enhancements and nail art.  Skin Care Therapists and Nail Technicians are required to adhere to standardized public sanitation, decontamination, sterilization, and infection control procedures.
