About Dual Degree - Bachelor of Business Administration & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior (PEL)
Students will first complete their Bachelor of Business Administration. Once complete they will move into the two years of their Bachelor of Education.
For applicants wanting to prepare for a career, and for life in general, Nipissing’s School of Business offers a unique approach to learning that provides more than a degree. Along with core business knowledge, faculty will help students develop professional and social skills. The program’s combination of theoretical background, practical skills, experience, independent thinking, and problem solving will give graduates an advantage and better chance of success in a competitive market.
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program is a general business degree that provides students with a strong foundation of business knowledge along with the opportunity to develop an area of focus. Some of these areas can lead directly to professional designations. The degree has nine knowledge concentration streams as follows: Accounting, Business Analytics and Technology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Leadership, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, International Business, Public Administration, Sustainable Development.
After completing their Bachelor of Business Administration, students will begin Nipissing University's Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, which was one of the first pre-service teacher education programs to be fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers.
The BEd program is part of the Schulich School of Education and meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification (Certificate of Qualification). It is open to applicants presenting proof of graduation with an approved undergraduate degree from an accredited university. The program provided by the Schulich School of Education is rigorous and demands a high degree of commitment. To be successful, a student must display sensitivity to pupils, a sense of responsibility to the teaching profession, and a respect for knowledge.
Candidates may apply to enroll in one of three divisions in the program:
P/J -- Primary/Junior (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6)
J/I -- Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4 to 10)
I/S -- Intermediate/Senior (Grades 7 to 12)
Upon successful completion of all six years, students graduate with both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree.
