Bachelor of Arts - Social Studies

Program Description

ONU's social studies program will turn students into outstanding social studies teachers. The program is different from what students will find at most universities. In addition to social studies, they'll earn a secondary major in history and the equivalent of a minor in education, and most students do it in only four years.

At ONU, students will experience a well-rounded program with courses in history, political science, economics, geography, psychology and sociology. In addition, students will take education courses and spend time observing and teaching in local classrooms. Students will learn about adolescent development, curriculum, classroom strategies, methods of teaching and more. They'll graduate ready to be licensed to teach social studies, grades seven to 12 in the state of Ohio but many graduates also teach elsewhere.
