Bachelor of Science - Molecular Biology

About Bachelor of Science - Molecular Biology
Program Description
As molecular biology majors at ONU, students will map genes using fruit flies (as part of an NSF-funded multi-institution course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE)), test the ability of chemicals to mutate DNA, and clone genes. They’ll explore exciting breakthroughs in stem cell technology and microRNA molecules and debate the ethical and social issues involved.
Large institutions just can’t provide the individualized attention and opportunity students will find at ONU. As freshmen, students will be in the lab working with real professors – not graduate assistants or lab instructors. Throughout their four years, they’ll design and conduct their own experiments, work on independent projects, and assist professors with grant-funded research. Most molecular biology students present their research at regional and national conferences.
