Program Description

Employers in every field – from education to business, social services to health care – seek out people who have special insights into human behavior. At ONU, they'll expose students to many possible career paths and help them find one they're passionate about.

As psychology majors, students may choose to focus their studies on general psychology, clinical/counseling or behavioral neuroscience. Each course of study combines rigorous coursework with extensive research experience. Students will work side-by-side with professors in the lab designing and conducting experiments. They’ll develop essential skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and critical thinking.

The general psychology concentration is designed to give students a solid foundation in the core areas of psychology while also allowing them to pick and choose specific courses in their area of interest. This concentration is suitable for preparing students to enter directly into the workforce upon graduation in a variety of different fields, as well as preparing students for graduate work in non-clinical subfields of psychology or other advanced degree programs, such as law, education, leadership studies, international relations and more.
