Bachelor of Science - Communication Arts and Literature

Program Description

Students in the Communication Arts and Literature program prepare to teach grades 5 to 12 with a passion for learning and commitment to creating a better world in the classroom and beyond through education. A State of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of the subject area major, in addition to completion of the Professional Education Sequence, and passing grades on the appropriate tests and assessment processes required by the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

This program also offers:

• Strong teaching and professional collaborations within the department and across the College of Education and Learning Design, including innovative field experiences and outstanding faculty leadership
• Opportunities to partner with the Minnesota National Writing Project and other community projects, including the Boys and Girls Club
• All teaching licensure programs approved by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
• More than a dozen department-based scholarships awarded
