About 2-Semester Pathway - Foundation Pathway in Law - Continue to Bachelor of Laws (Honours) - Law with Criminology

Program Description

This qualifying law degree brings together Law and Criminology, giving students the opportunity to combine an interest in criminality and criminal policy with in-depth coverage of the law of England and Wales. The programme is designed to cover foundational subjects in each discipline in the first and second year, allowing students a wide choice of optional study in the final year. Students will gain a comprehensive grounding in the areas covered by a qualifying law degree; Contract Law, Criminal Law, Land Law, Equity and Trusts, EU Law, Law of Tort and Public Law. Alongside this, they will study core concepts in the field of criminology, the most important theories of crime and deviance and their relevance to contemporary criminal justice policy, research and practice.

Swansea offers an inclusive, student-focussed learning environment and community. Modules are delivered and assessed in a variety of different ways, and students will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, to work independently as well as with others, to act professionally, and to master new skills. As well as teaching and learning activities Swansea offers a broad range of opportunities for students to get involved: from research-based placements, to working with clients, to developing advocacy and other skills. Swansea's thriving Law Clinic offers students the opportunity to get involved in giving advice to clients, and they have programmes of extra-curricular mooting, negotiation and interviewing.

Studying a qualifying law degree can lead to a range of careers. Swansea graduates go on to a wide variety of careers, which include being a: barrister, chartered accountant, civil servant, lecturer, legal executive, local government officer, paralegal, police officer, prison officer, researcher, solicitor, stockbroker or trading standards officer.
