About Year One Foundation Program - Transfer to Bachelor of Science - Animal Health, Companion and Performance Animals (Optional Co-op)

Why study this program?
Companion and performance animals play an integral role in human society, from search and rescue, to therapy, to sports, to specialized and individual services. This program examines the physiology, nutrition, behaviour, and evolving role of companion and performance animals, as well as the sociology and psychology of the human-animal bond.

Students may complete all pre-veterinary course requirements in this degree.

Why study Animal Health at the University of Alberta?
The BSc in in Animal Health degree in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences will allow students to complete their pre-veterinary medicine requirements. Areas of study include the biology and behaviour of companion animals, the human-animal bond, and the safety and quality of the animal food supply. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills while completing real-world projects and case studies, and develop hands-on skills through access to an extensive network of animal research facilities.
