About Academic Accelerator - Bachelor of Arts - Criminal Justice Studies

Program Description

The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a two-semester program designed specifically for students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms, but who also want the benefit of English-language and student support to help them thrive. The program curriculum offers a balance of university-wide and AAP-exclusive courses, with English-language course supplements that equip students with the practical, subject-specific vocabulary and skills they need to excel in their coursework.

As an Academic Accelerator student at UDayton Global you'll receive:
  • The right amount of support when you need it.
  • A seat in credit-bearing courses, so you can earn a full freshman year’s worth of credits while taking courses tailored to your needs as an international student. This will help you achieve your academic and career goals.
  • English-language instruction designed around your social and academic needs.
  • Integrated and cohorted courses, so you’ll be in some classes with U.S. students and others with your designated UDayton Global cohort.

The Criminal Justice Studies Program (CJS) offers a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. The major is composed of an interdisciplinary curriculum comprised of faculty in sociology, anthropology, social work, political science, and psychology. We offer the following concentrations:

  • Business Intelligence
  • Criminal Justice Studies
  • Cyber-Security Management
  • Pre-Law

We offer numerous opportunities to engage in service learning and participate in our well-developed internship program that offers placements in community, corporate, or justice administration agencies at the local, state, or federal level.

Students successfully completing the Criminal Justice Studies major understand how historical, theoretical, ethical, legal and social justice concerns impact the justice system and can critically analyze and develop responses to justice challenges. They are able to use social science research methods to investigate justice problems. Our students develop professional skills in real-world settings and can effectively communicate their perspectives on complex justice issues to diverse audiences.

We also offer a minor in Criminal Justice Studies, which can complement any undergraduate degree program with 18-19 semester hours of coursework.
