About Master of Science - School Psychology + Certificate in School Psychology

Program Description

This School Psychology program is an integrated full-time program, with a three-year sequence of course work and practicum experiences, leading to the both a Master of Science Degree and a Sixth-Year Certificate.

The Master of Science in School Psychology prepares school psychologists with particular competencies to work with children, families, and educational systems. It is designed to prepare highly qualified practitioners whose primary role is to maximize learning and developmental opportunities for children. Specifically, the program’s primary goal is to produce highly competent clinicians who will meet employment demands for services involving:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis
  • Counseling and Psychotherapy
  • Consultation and Collaboration
Learning Outcomes
Master of Science in School Psychology students will:

  • Have knowledge of data-based decision making and accountability.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in consultation and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in interventions and instructional support necessary to assist in the development of academic skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in interventions and mental health services that will assist with the development of social and life skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills pertinent to school-wide practices that promote learning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in preventive and responsive services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills that facilitate family-school partnerships and communication.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in diversity as it pertains to development and learning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in research and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills of legal and ethical issues as they pertain to professional practice.
